After receiving several reports of infant deaths caused by the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an official recall on April 12, 2019. Why Was The Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper Recalled?
According to reports, infants can suffocate within the Rock ‘n Play Sleeper by rolling onto their sides or stomachs, especially if they remain unrestrained by the safety belt. Although Fisher-Price claims their product is safe when used correctly, this may not be true.
The product instructions direct parents to buckle their children into the seat whenever the product is in use and to discontinue use altogether when the child reaches a certain age or weight. Before the company issued a recall, the American Academy of Pediatrics originally asked Fisher-Price to recall their Rock ‘n Play products, calling them “deadly.”
