Crane Johnstone

Crane Johnstone is a trial attorney who has practiced law in Florida since 1986. Over the course of his career, he has represented plaintiffs in medical malpractice, product liability, tobacco, and other catastrophic personal injury litigation.

Crane has served as trial and appellate counsel in significant cases in both state and federal courts. His trial advocacy includes representing a plaintiff in a medical malpractice case that ultimately led the Florida Supreme Court to strike down statutory caps on noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases.

Crane has helped secure millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients, including:

  • $75 million damages award in tobacco litigation
  • $20 million in a cycling accident paralysis case
  • $14.5 million verdict in a motor vehicle case
  • $12.6 million judgment in a medical malpractice case
  • $4.7 million verdict in a medical malpractice case

Crane brings decades of litigation experience to every stage of a case, including investigation, discovery, trial, and appeal.

He earned his law degree cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law and bachelor’s degrees in English Literature and History from Tufts University. He has been admitted to practice before the Middle and Southern District Federal Courts and before the United States Supreme Court. Crane was elected as the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Ft. Lauderdale chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2010.
